
The Chicago Jazz Festival is just two weeks away, which means jazz-related activities will be on the uptick for the next couple of weeks. On Friday night, for example, Chicago Film Archives will present three short films at 6916 S. Dorchester, just across the street from Black Cinema House, including a 1964 piece about Duke Ellington touring Japan, a 1971 film capturing Roberta Flack at the Newport Jazz Festival (even though she's not exactly a jazz singer), and a 1979 documentary about the great drummer Elvin Jones.…
