
RIP former Chicagoan Frank M. Robinson, who died yesterday at age 87.
A prolific author and collector of sci-fi and techno-thrillers (his novels included The Glass Inferno, which was adapted for the screen as the megahit The Towering Inferno), and a former editor at Playboy magazine, he was a behind-the-scenes member of the gay liberation movement in Chicago in the early 1970s before relocating to San Francisco, where he made his most important mark: writing speeches for, and advising, gay activist Harvey Milk.…
